JAMMU, May 19: A delegation of PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PHDCCI ) Jammu Chapter, led by its chairman Rahul Sahai met Rahul Yadav Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation and apprised him of various issues.
Sahai briefed Yadav about various issues regarding JMC and said lot of good works have been done by JMC under Smart City Project and suggested various points regarding all the Municipal Committees of Jammu province and Jammu district which includes early completion of Smart City projects and added Introducing of smart meters for Auto-rikshaws,promoting e-Rikshaws for residents and tourists, creation of Cycling tracks and walkways and suggested two sites along canal from Railway station to Channi Himmat and along Ranbir Canal on Jammu -Akhnoor road.
He further suggested that sewerage & drainage facilities should be made in the areas which are still not covered within city survey. Solar is the future so solar street lights should be installed for better efficiency and saving power, directional signages mentioning places in smart city project have been installed but some are wrongly placed which are not visible and some are encroached, there is an immediate need to check this and correct. Moreover, at Jammu Bus Stand Complex, no big sign board has been installed identifying the place for outsiders. More and more Public toilets in PPP mode should be constructed. New defined Rehri Zones required to be created. We have a good example of Rehri zone opposite Church in Gandhi Nagar more are needed. Land use should be as per Master Plan as on date not as per old land use records, Sahai also highlighted issue of having more and more community parking’s in prominent colonies like Gandhi Nagar, Nai Basti, Channi Himmat, Trikuta Nagar, Old Jammu City, Bakshi Nagar, Rehari, Janipur etc as people are parking vehicles on roads and lanes which in result is choking the roads.
Sahai suggested that one single window Nodal agency should be there to coordinate and address all the issues and grievances pertaining to utilities like water, electricity, sewage, drainage, roads etc. He also highlighted burning issues of Transport Nagar and also gave invitation of visit. He said old Illegal vehicle are dumped on main roads of Transport Nagar and encroachment is there. In spite of having 2000 shops, 50 C&F’S not even single street light is there. Sulabh Shauchalaya on PPP mode are required in the area in view of high public movement.
Commissioner JMC assured Sahai that it’s a beginning and regular interactions would be held on different sectors and issues.
