80 bovines rescued as Police foils major smuggling bid

UDHAMPUR, May 19: In a major success, Police rescued 80 bovine animals and arrested five smugglers near Tikri area, here today.
The a group of 80 bovines was being taken by smugglers from Jammu towards Kashmir on foot without any valid permission. They were intercepted by a Police party at Tikri naka.
All the 80 bovines were rescued and five bovine smugglers, namely Gaffar Ahmed, son of Mohd Yousuf of Talab Tillo, Jammu, Shad Ali, son of Noor Alam of Gole Gujaral, Jammu, Masqoor Ahmed, son of Mohd Iqbal of Camp Gole Gujral, Din Mohd, son of Mishar Ali of R S Pura and Shang Mohd of Panchari were arrested on the spot.
In this regard, case FIR numbers 104/2022, 105/2022, 106/2022, 107/2022 and 108/2022 have been registered in Police Station Rehambal under relevant sections of law.
The operation was successfully conducted by a police party, led by IC PP Tikri, PSI Abdul Satar, under the supervision of Addl SP Udhampur Anwaar Ul Haq and DySP Hqrs Udhampur, Sahil Mahajan.
This year, 108 cases of bovine smuggling have been so far registered in different police stations of the district.
The arrest was made under the supervision of SSP Dr Vinod Kumar.
