Students boycott classes against shortage of staff

UDHAMPUR, Sept 4: The students of Government Higher Secondary School, Ramnagar today boycotted their classes against the shortage of staff and sitting facility.
Hundreds of students of Government Higher Secondary School, Ramnagar today came on road and blocked the Ramnagar-Udhampur road for couple of hours, leading to traffic chaos.
The protestors alleged that due to the shortage of staff in the school, the students are facing manifold problems to get their queries solved pertaining to their subjects.
They said that there is no proper sitting arrangement in the school and there is dire need of additional class rooms.
“We had taken these issues with District Commissioner two months back, who assured to provide 250 additional benches, but nothing has been done till date”, one of the protestor alleged.
If our demands were not redressed in next three days, then the students will launch massive protest against the district administration and for any untoward incident, the administration will be responsible.
When contacted, Chief Education Officer (CEO) Udhampur Balbir Singh said that sanctioned posts of lecturers were filled and will take up the matter for additional faculty in the school with the higher authorities.
