SRINAGAR May 20: A Village Level Worker of Rural Development Department was arrested with drugs worth crores in Uri area of Baramulla District today.
An official said that during routine checking, security forces during the frisking point on Srinagar-Uri national highway recovered a large quantity of illegal drugs from the vehicle of one individual who is VLW in RDD and is posted at BDO office Paranpeelan in Uri.
He said that narcotics weighing 10.4 kilograms were recovered from his possession which upon preliminary investigation suggested that the recovered substance is herion and it is worth crores of rupees.
The arrested VLW was identified as Mohammad Zahid Geelani son of Peer Hassan Din Geelani of Basgran Uri. A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
