R.S PURA, May 24: State general secretary of All J&K Panchayat Conference and Sarpanch Panchayat Gandli, Gurdeep Singh Saini here today started the work of laying tiles at main lane of village Gandali.
A large number of people of the village including other representatives of the Panchayat were present.
Speaking on the occasion, the Sarpanch said that an amount of Rs 3.60 lakh would be spent for the development of the lane.
“Condition of this lane was dilapidated and demand of its improvement was long pending,” he further said adding that even during Panchayati elections he had promised that the street would be constructed and today the work on it has started.
The Sarpanch said that it has been decided by the government to develop this Panchayat as a Model one with the help of Social Welfare Department but fund have not been released yet.
He urged upon the Lieutenant Governor to give necessary directions for releasing the funds at the earliest so that people can get better amenities.
Saini said that the village was very backward in development and the condition of lanes and drains there was very poor.
He said that completion of the construction work of the lane will be honour to Martyr Tarsem Lal as he was martyred adjacent to the lane.
“Soon a sports ground will also be constructed for the youth here,” he said.
Naib Sarpanch Pyare Lal, Panch Satya Devi, Panch Pawan Singh, Harjinder Singh, Darshan Lal, former Chairman Amar Singh Charak and Panchayat Secretary Narendra Singh were also present on the occasion.
