Khajuria discusses exporters issue with MD JKTPO

JAMMU, May 26: Romesh Khajuria, Chairman Wool & Woollens Export Promotion Council (WWEPC), Ministry of Textile, Government of India today called on Devansh Yadav, Managing Director Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO) here today.
During interaction with Managing Director of JKTPO, Khajuria informed him about the working of WWEPC, GOI and briefed him about free trade agreements done by India with Australia and UAE , lauded the initiative taken by Modi Government in creating conducive environment for exports.
Khajuria said that Modi Government is committed for the development of J&K and issued the instructions to export promotion bodies working with Government of India to focus on the promotion of exports of products from J&K region. He said WWEPC has been organizing events for the exporters around the globe focusing mainly on exporters from Jammu and Kashmir and other Himalayan states.
He said that during the year 2022-23 more than 20 international and six national level events are planned where the wool exporters and promoters will be provided with the platform to display their products for the international market.
Khajuria who hails from Jammu’s village Rehal in Bishnah also deals with growth of the entrepreneur ecosystem and exports of Wool and Woollen blended based products to Europe.
He said that J&K is the main cluster for manufacturing of premium Shawls, Stoles, Scarves, Mufflers’ and many more products of fine wool quality which have huge potential worldwide and we need to organize capacity building and awareness programs in the region to make WWEPC popular and SMEs here can use Council’s platform for exports.
He also said that Council will work hard with support of Jammu and Kashmir Administration for the development of woollen and hosiery industry to achieve new targets of export set by the Government of India .
Both the dignitaries also discussed the upcoming Memorandum of Understanding between JKTPO and WWEPC for the promotion of exports and development of products from J&K.
