JAMMU, May 26: A teenage boy drowned in river Chenab in Akhnoor here today.
As per police sources, a boy namely Ankush Sharma (18), a resident of Jayanti area of tehsil Akhnoor drowned in river Chenab near old Bridge Akhnoor today afternoon.
Following the incident, UTDRF and police personnel launched a search and rescue operation. However, the body of the drowned youth was not fished out when last reports were compiled.
The search operation was stopped due to darkness and will resume tomorrow early morning.
Akhnoor Police has taken cognizance in this regard.
