Protest at Kotranka against opening of liquor shop

RAJOURI, May 27: The people held strong protest against the opening of liquor retail shop at Kotranka town in district Rajouri today.
After the Friday prayers, a large number of people under the leadership of BDC Chairman Javed Iqbal Choudhary claimed not to allow liquor shops to open in the area and strongly opposed this move of the Government. The local people warned the administration that if an attempt was made to open a liquor shop in the Kotranka area, the people would start a massive agitation. This will be the responsibility of the administration. Iqbal said he had submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner earlier also, but no action has been taken.
The protesters said that this would spoil the young people of the area. People warned the administration that they would not allow to open the shop in the market. The protesters targeted the BJP Government and said that it is not able to provide basic facilities to the people, but opening liquor shops.
