POONCH, May 28: Army and Police today recovered around 44 kg narcotic substance from Bagyaldara village near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district.
An official spokesman said that the narcotics (heroin) was smuggled from across the border and was recovered by a joint team of Army and J&K Police during search operation in forest area. The search operation had been launched three days ago on the specific inputs regarding presence of terrorists and smuggling of some arms and ammunition. During searches, huge consignment smuggled into this side from across the LoC was recovered by the security forces.
It had been properly sealed and packed in poly packs and hidden in forest area at some distance from Bagyaldara village . The value of this consignment is said to be more than Rs 50 crores in the international market
It is pertinent to mention here that huge consignment had been recovered during similar operation by the security forces in Poonch district in the recent past. The militants are believed to have been smuggling huge narcotics along with arms and ammunition into this side from Pak side.
