Bovines smuggling bids foiled, 2 arrested

JAMMU, May 29: Chowki Choura and Jhajjar Kotli Police foiled bovines smuggling bids and arrested two persons.
As per police sources, a team from Police Post Chowki Choura led by SI Saroop Singh under the supervision of SHO Akhnoor Inspector Hilal Azhar, SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial and SP Rural Jammu Sanjay Sharma laid a naka and intercepted a Rajouri bound vehicle bearing registration number JK11A-8201.
During checking, police team rescued four bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested two persons, who were identified as Amber Hussain, son of Farooq Ahmed of Ari Mendhar District Poonch and Tariq Hussain, son of Tufail Hussain of Gursai Mendhar District Poonch.
A case under FIR Number 154/2022 under Sections 188/34 IPC, 11 PCA Act, 50, 52 and 54 r/w 56 Transportation of Animal Act 1978 and 3/181 MV Act was registered at Police Station Akhnoor and investigation initiated.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Jhajjar Kotli led by SHO Inspector Vikram Sharma under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Pardeep Kumar during patrolling in Dansal area apprehended a man, who was transporting two bovines to Kashmir by foot.
The arrested person was identified as Bashir Ahmed Chichi, son of Mian Chichi of Kokernag District Anantnag.
A case FIR Number 125/2022 under Sections 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act and 11/12/13 Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (transportation of animals on foot) Rules 2001 has been registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and investigation started.
