Dr Nitin Nohria appointed Director of Tata Sons

NEW DELHI, Sept 7:  Dr Nitin Nohria, the Dean of Harvard Business School, has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director of Tata Sons Ltd.

The appointment is effective from yesterday.

Dr Nohria, who has been the Dean of Harvard Business School since July 1, 2010, is also the George F Baker Professor of Business Administration.

He previously served as co-chair of the HBS Leadership Initiative, Senior Associate Dean of Faculty Development and Head of the Organisational Behaviour Unit of Harvard Business School.

Prior to joining the Harvard Business School faculty in July 1988, Dr Nohria received his Ph D in Management from the Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a B Tech in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.

He was a visiting faculty member at the London Business School in 1996.

Dr Nohria has served as an advisor and consultant to several large and small companies in different parts of the world.

The Tata group comprises over 100 operating companies in seven business sectors–communications and information technology, engineering, materials, services, energy, consumer products and chemicals.

The group has operations in more than 80 countries across six continents, and its companies export products and services to 85 countries. (UNI)
