JAMMU, June 1: Senior political leader from Jammu, Vikram Malhotra has resigned from the Apni Party. One of the co-founders of the Party, he was holding the post of general secretary.
In a statement to the press, Malhotra said he wrote a detailed letter to party president Syed Altaf Bukhari enlisting reasons for his resignation from the party. He said it was a great experience working together with Bukhari as a person but Apni Party lacks any coherent policy or programme for the future.
Malhotra said he had joined the Apni Party in national interest at a critical juncture in wake of 2019 Constitutional changes but in two years the party has lost its way. Far from becoming voice of people and emerging as an alternative, the Apni Party has become a mirror reflection of NC and PDP, particularly in its regional approach to Jammu.
He asserted that in new political environment, Jammu deserves attention but the Apni Party appears unwilling to walk that extra mile. “I have remained a dedicated political worker whole my life and I will continue to serve the public in best possible way”, said Malhotra.
