REASI, June 3: District Development Commissioner Reasi, Babila Rakwal today convened a meeting of officers to review arrangements for the five day historic Aghar Jitto Mela slated to be organized from June 10 to June 15.
The Baba Jitto Mandir Development Committee apprised the DDC about the events planned to be organized during the mela and the requisite steps required to be taken by the District Administration for the smooth conduct of the event. It was informed that the mela would be organized at the main shrine in addition to several activities to attract pilgrims.
After threadbare discussion, the DDC assigned the arrangements to the different departments including repair/maintenance of the roads, cleanliness of the area , installation of stalls, deployment of adequate security personnel to prevent any untoward incident, supply of water, Power, Fire tender & Medical facilities etc.
The Sub Divisional Magistrate Katra was designated as Mela officer. He was asked to co-ordinate with the Mandir Committee & the other departments for smooth conduct of the Mela. The Nodal Officer was further directed to visit the venue along with police and chalk-out the sequence of events and the necessary arrangements required.
The departments were asked to complete the assignments with extreme sense of responsibility as the mela was being organized after a gap of two years and a huge rush of pilgrims was expected.
The meeting was attended by Abdul Satar, ADC Reasi; Surjit Kumar, Addl. SP Reasi and Executive Engineers of PWD, Jal Shakti & JPDCL and District officers of the concerned departments.
