Srinagar, June 3: High Court today sought a report with regard to renewal of leases in the tourist resort of Pahalgam in accordance with law.
The division bench of Chief Justice and Justice Moksha Kazmi said that there is no report submitted by the DC Anantnag with regard to the meeting as regards to renewal of leases to the hoteliers and other occupants in the resort.
“We have not been informed as to what report, if any, has been submitted by the Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag. In view of the response so submitted, it is evident that the applications for renewal of leases have not been considered on merits so far by the competent authority and directed Pahalgam Development Authority and Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag.
Court directed for taking appropriate steps immediately to submit necessary report with regard to the renewal of all leases in accordance with law to the competent authority and to obtain appropriate orders in that regard within a period of three months from today.
DB directed CEO Pahalgam Development Authority to inform the court regarding the appropriate action taken on and affidavit on next date of hearing. The Additional Advocate General stated that the Pahalgam Development Authority has taken up the matter for renewal of leases with the Government in its 8th Pahalgam Development Authority Meeting held.
He added that it was decided in the meeting that the Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag shall submit the matter to the Government with his recommendation for the approval of the Government.
