SRINAGAR, June 3: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) today arrested the State Manager, J&K State Industrial Development Corporation (SIDCO), Srinagar for demanding and accepting a bribe for the issuance of a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
In this regard, the ACB said that it received a complaint from a resident of Suthrashahi, Srinagar alleging that he is an industrial unit holder.
“His unit is situated at Khonmoh, Srinagar. For the expansion of the industrial Unit, he had requested financial support/assistance from the J&K Bank Khonmoh. The bank sought NOC from SIDCO (Jammu & Kashmir State Industrial Development Corporation), Sanat Ghar, Bemina, Srinagar,” the ACB said.
Accordingly, ACB said, he prepared the file and completed all paperwork, and approached the SIDCO office in Bemina.
“State Manager Fayaz Ahmad Khan posted there demanded Rs 5,000 for himself and Rs 1 lakh for General Manager Khursheed Ahmad for issuance of the required NOC in favor of the complainant.”
As the complainant did not want to pay any bribe, he approached ACB with a request for necessary legal action against these corrupt officers for the demand of a bribe of Rs 1.05 lakh, ACB said.
“As the contents of the complaint prima facie disclose the commission of an offence under Section 7 of the PC Act 1988 & Section 120-B of the Indian Penal Code hence immediately case FIR No 23/2022 was registered at PS ACB Srinagar and investigations were started.”
Immediately after registration of the case, ACB said, a trap team was constituted.
“The team laid a successful trap and caught Fayaz Ahmad Khan, State Manager SIDCO Sanat Ghar, Bemina, Srinagar red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe from the complainant and was arrested on the spot by the team.” ACB said.
The bribe money was also recovered from his possession in presence of independent witnesses, ACB said, adding further investigation was going on.
