JAMMU, June 5: Local people led by BDC Chairman, Ghagwal Vijay Tagotra blocked the National Highway for half an hour in Ghagwal on Sunday against the undeclared power cuts in Samba. The protest was led by BDC president, Vijay Tagotra.
The BDC chairman said that during the heavy Summer for the last few days, the Power Development Department (PDD) is making huge cuts, in the night the power goes out at 10:00 and comes at 2:30 and along with this, the situation is the same during the day as well. The day light remains off. Today, the electricity was switched off at 10:00 am and was restored at 3:00 pm, after which it was switched off again at 4:00 pm he said while expressing the anger against the Government.
Police Station, in-charge, Ghagwal Vijay Kumar Verma, who reached the spot, got the highway restored while giving assurance to the protesters. During the demonstration, there were long queues of vehicles on the highway and hundreds of vehicles got stuck in the jam, which was also smoothed by the police.
Panch Sunil Sharma, Bittu Chauhan, Devendra Sharma, Virendra Sharma, Panch Barinder Singh alias Vicky Jasrotia, Panch Ramnik Singh, Happy Jasrotia etc. participated in the demonstration.
