3 vehicles involved in illegal mining seized

KATHUA, June 5: A team of officials of Geology and Mining Department, Kathua led by DMO, Rajinder Singh today laid crackdown at various locations of Basholi and Kathua.
During day long exercise, three loaded vehicles involved in illegal mining were seized at Dali and Lakhanpur. The seizure memos have been issued to the police for taking custody of seized vehicles till their release by the higher authorities after recovering penality under mining rules.
The Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Rahul Panday has already instructed the Mining Department to remain vigilant for curbing illegal mining activities and illegal transportation of minor minerals in the district.
The teams also checked the enforcement of notified rates of minor minerals and advised consumers to purchase minerals from legal sources only and stay away from illegal mining activities.
Pertinent to mention here that this exercise was in continuance to administration’s tough attitude against defaulters.
Moreover, the general public was appealed to inform the Mining Department in case of any issue pertaining to illegal mining in the areas and exorbitant rates of minor and finished minerals and also immediately bring to the notice of the Department.
