The world environment day 2022 and deliberations on theme i.e. “Only One Earth” is quiet amazing. The earth is the only planet where life is possible and it becomes the duty of every human being to keep this planet clean and green for healthy Environment, so that the life is self sustainable. The implications is that the earth is still our only home and we must safeguard its precious Natural resources.
In 2022, we hope to see the world turning the corner on the worst of Covid-19 pandemic. But we do so with the knowledge that we continue to face the triple planetary crisis. i.e. climate change, nature loss and pollution all over.
This world Environment Day Theme brings nature and people at the centre of Environment work which reminds us of the roots of the critical work of protecting our Environment and injects vital impetus to global efforts to build back better and greener Environment.
The protection of planet earth is a big question mark. The World Environment Day has become a platform for promoting progress on the maintenance of Environment dimensions of the sustainable development goals. The environment programme framed is responsible for its implementation by engaging different governments, business organisations, public authorities and civil societies throughout the country in general and J&K state in particular so that the Environment is protected and a healthy surrounding are created. The protection of planet earth is a big challenge.
A challenge only becomes an obstacle when we bow to it
The protection of environment at this planet is the need of hour for keeping this earth clean and green for healthy life style which can be achieved by having certain policies and individual choices. Now at this moment for keeping the planet earth clean, we must bring changes in all the business climate, the political climate and finally the action taken against the behaviour of climate. Now it is the time for the unstoppable courage required for preserving and protecting our health, our families and our livelihoods all together. To achieve all these goals huge investment from different governments is required.
Because A Green Future is a prosperous future
At this particular Junction when the environment at this planet earth is degrading because of the wrong and unmonitored policies of the Govt. as regard to cutting of trees is concerned. The cutting of trees and forests have been taken up in such a recklessly manner that the whole flora and fauna of the area, in addition to medicinal plants is destroyed. The agencies responsible for this should be taken to tasks.
It is pertinent to mention here that rebuilding of the environment to its original position is required although a uphill task, so that the Environment is made healthy for the better life of every individual. We need to act boldly, innovate broadly and implement equitably as it is going to take all of us whether in business, Government or citizens. So that every individual contributes for this and is accountable also. We must know that there is still time to resolve the climate crisis and time to choose a prosperous and sustainable future for restoring a clean and healthy planet for our children and their children. Come forward immediately as we are losing time.

Socrates have said that: – The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting for the old but on building the new.
When it comes to climate change, money talks, i.e. through regulations, incentives and public/private Partnership government hold the keys to transform and build the green economy. Similar to the industrial and information revolution. Govt. must incentivize their citizens,business and institutions to build a healthy future. Ultimately Government will empower green business practises not only by the ethical option but also the lucrative one.
It is the Only home we have, we need every one, while there is still time

The theme – only one earth
And as per this for the protection of planet earth, every individual is appealed to contribute vigorously from his own house by not throwing the garbage outside the house in the lanes and drains as well. This will result in de choking of drains, making water to flow normally and by this life of residents will improve.. In addition, the Residents are also advised not to cover the drains outside the house besides encroaching the roads.
The construction/Maintenance of lanes and drains should be given top priority.
Plantation of more and more Trees should be encouraged.
Green belts created should be protected and maintained properly for having healthy surroundings.
In addition to plantation of trees the free flow of traffic in Jammu City and adjoining areas be encouraged to minimize the pollution level. Further to check this a complete ban should be imposed on all type of political /religious processions /rallies. Every organisation should exhibit its strength in the premises itself. This will put a check on the traffic jams and minimise the harassment caused to the citizens. As per statistics available the No. of Deaths due to pollution were 90 lakh Globally in 2019 and India tops the list with over 23.5 lakh deaths.
More over the authorities sitting at the zhelm of affairs must explore the possibility of creating more and more parking spaces. This will restrain the commuters to park vehicles on the road side and in turn will reduce pressure on the roads leading to busy markets of Jammu and will ultimately attract more and more customers resulting in improved Economy. The shopkeepers must also ensure that the foot paths are not encroached upon by dumping material on it. This will help in providing free flow of traffic. which will result in reducing the pollution.
In addition to have better life on this planet earth, the Govt. must impose a complete Ban on the use of public address system at all the religious places and also at the public functions. This will check the level of noise pollution and improve the quality of life of every individual.
Moreover the unabated unplanned urbanisation needs to be checked as Urban areas are mostly responsible for emission of Green House gases in the Atmosphere. We need to think of planning our cities based on Zero Carbon and Zero Waste. It implies that all Waste (both liquid and solid) must be recycled. Moreover the non cyclable waste like plastic etc. must be banned and removed from the market in a phased manner.
So the Environmentally friendly habitats are the need of the hour to rejuvenate the ecosystem of our Mother Earth
At the end it is appealed to all the citizens/NGO’s and different Govt. organisation to act in such a manner that this planet Earth is kept green and healthy to provide good health to every individual.
