Tony flays ‘Double Engine Govt’ for dismal power scenario, threatens stir

JAMMU, June 7: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and DDC member Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony while raising serious concern over the dismal power scenario in J&K, has flayed the UT Administration for the situation.
In a statement issued to media here today, Taranjit Singh Tony said farmers are the worst affected amid acute power shortage as their pump sets have come to a halt in absence of power due to acute power shortage rather absence of power in the rural areas. He said that consequently the green fodder crop is getting ruined with the rural belt having gone totally dry. He said that only three hours power supply is being provided to the people and farmers of border villages of Suchetgarh.
Tony said while farmers are the worst victims with no tube well functioning in the rural areas, people at large in the rural belt are spending sleepless nights. He said that the BJP proxy Government in the J&K had committed to provide 24×7 power supply to the people here but it has miserably failed to fulfill its promises made to the people living in this UT.
The AAP leader stated said that prior to coming into power BJP had termed the power agreements of J&K with Centre defective and had said that when it comes to power it would set the things right in this regard so that people in J&K got sufficient electricity and the surplus would be sold to other states. He said that now that BJP is in power as part of the existing Double Engine Government in J&K, why does not it set the dismal power scenario right?
Tony appealed the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to take urgent measures to restore adequate power supply at the earliest failing which AAP would be forced to adopt the path of agitation.
