JU observes ‘Save Himalaya Day’

JAMMU, Sept 9: Department of Environmental Sciences, Jammu University today observed  `Save Himalaya Day’ with agenda `Himalaya Past, Present & Future’, in light of the recent catastrophe of Uttarakhand.
The programme was organized in collaboration with J&K Almi Khudai Khidmatgar Association Jammu, Himalayan Environmental Services & Conservation Organization (HESO) Dehradun, Department of Science & Technology, New Delhi and Activity Public Higher Secondary School, Jammu.
Prof  Desh Bandhu, Director, Colleges Development Council,  Jammu was the chief guest on this occasion  while Prof  R K  Rampal, HoD Environment Science and Prof A K  Raina, Convener, Board of Studies, were the guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Desh Bandhu exhorted the audience to be rational while using all the resources, needed in day to day life to ensure that nothing is used unnecessarily or wasted, be it water, paper, power or items of clothing and footwear. The students took part in debate and painting competition.
