“Remote voting”

The most important aspect of democratic set up in the country is the vote of a citizen which decides, shapes and runs the wheels of the parliamentary democracy and it becomes extremely necessary to analyse the trend of voting in the sense whether the right to franchise is considered as sacrosanct by a voter or not and should, therefore, every citizen not exercise one’s democratic right as also how migrants could vote, how people scattered in far flung and rural areas voted.
Most of the employees seek permission to leave station or avail of the holiday on the polling day, whether such employees really vote. In short, there are numerous issues which the Election Commission in pursuit of making the system more robust and smooth wants to address with intent to facilitate voters and ensure voting took place. In this connection, therefore, a committee is proposed to be set up to examine these issues where possibilities and modalities of even remote voting system could be deliberated upon and the system worked out, the aim being to reverse the trend of low voter turnout. The committee, definitely is set out to deal with an import aspect and should, therefore, devise ways but mass awakening is too important to be ignored about the importance of casting vote and not treating the holiday on the day of polling as an occasion to be at leisure and just to enjoy.
