Youth killed, 5 injured as jeep turns turtle

JAMMU, June 12: A youth was killed while five others sustained injuries after a jeep turned turtle inside a tunnel near Nandini here today evening.
As per police sources, a jeep was on its way to Jammu from Udhampur when the driver lost control over it and the vehicle turned turtle inside a tunnel near Nandini, resulting into on the spot death of a youth and injuries to five others.
After getting information, a team from Police Station Jhajjar Kotli rushed to the spot and started rescue operation with the help of locals.
All the injured persons were rescued and shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where they were undergoing treatment, when last reports came in.
The deceased identified as Nikhil (25), son of Punjab Singh of Katal Battal, Nagrota District Jammu has been shifted to mortuary of GMCH Jammu for completion of medical and legal formalities.
The injured were identified as Sidh Dev (25), son of Kher Singh of Bari Brahmana District Samba, Yudhveer Singh (17), son of Pardeep Singh of Greater Kailash District Jammu, Munish Singh (21), son of Veer Singh of Gangyal District Jammu, Bablu (23), son of Gopal Dass and Abhi (22), son of Nek Ram, both residents of Nagrota District Jammu.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and investigation started.
