Overseas recruitment potential

Some of skilled or non skilled job seekers overseas have been able to obtain the jobs but purely on personal efforts. What was needed is institutional arrangement so that qualified and skilled manpower from the state could find jobs in foreign companies and corporations. In its third meeting of the Board of J&K Overseas Employment Corporation Limited (JKSOECL), a brief appraisal of the Corporation’s activities over past three years was presented. As many as 2229 candidates have registered themselves with the Corporation which included 1932 Engineers, 28 Doctors and 269 unskilled persons. Saudi Government delegation visited the State three times for recruitments and is expected to pay another visit. The Chief Minister has rightly emphasized that at least two ITIs should be identified in Srinagar and Jammu where aspirant applicants for overseas jobs can receive upgraded technical skills to enable them to meet the requirements of overseas employers. The purpose is that the State youth both skilled and unskilled should get exposure in overseas markets and thus improve their financial conditions. While we appreciate the effort of the Government for providing overseas exposure to our youth and for that purpose coordinating with various agencies, it has to be kept in mind that only genuine overseas companies are recommended for employment.
