Curb Petrol, Diesel shortage

While some relief in the cost of petrol and diesel was recently given to the consumers and some respite from soaring prices was felt, however, for the last few days a few petrol pumps in the Union Territory have gone somewhat ”dry” and the most sought after and used stuff is not freely available putting to great inconvenience people especially the farming community. When enquired about the reason, it was revealed that some companies had reduced supplying of the usual quota not because there was any shortage but ostensibly these oil companies were incurring heavy losses on account of various associated factors especially Russia -Ukraine conflict etc .
In short, any measure to cut down prices not warranted by economic and commercial reasons and interfering in the ordinary course of the entire structure can and has created problems , issues in respect of importing the crude too have sprouted which can expectedly be resolved shortly. In the meantime, the Government must take measures and necessary steps to ensure regularising the supply of diesel and petrol and not have any artificial scarcity felt anywhere in the UT.
