POONCH, June 16: The police foiled a narcotics smuggling bid and recovered some quantity of heroin from a drug-peddler in Surankote area of Ponch district today.
Police said in a drive against drug menace, police party of Police Station Surankote alongwith Army at Draba battalion while checking at Lassana, apprehended one person namely, Parvaiz Ahmed, son of Abdul Aziz, a resident of Seri Khawaja in Tehsil Surankote.
During his personal search, the team recovered 10 grams of heroin and a weighing machine from his possession.
The accused has been arrested and a case FIR No. 163/2022 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station, Surankote against him.
