Gurezi inaugurates Veterinary Hospital Complex at R S Pura

JAMMU, Sept 11: Minister of State for Animal and Sheep Husbandry, (Independent Charge)  Nazir Ahmed Khan Gurezi today inaugurated newly constructed Veterinary Hospital here at Baspur in tehsil R.S. Pura.
MLA, Poonch, Ajaz Jaan, MLA, Suchetgarh, Sham Chowdhary, Member Legislative Council, Devender Singh Rana, besides  Director Animal Husbandry Jammu, Dr. Sham Lal Bhagat, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Jammu, Dr. R.K. Raina,  besides senior officers of the concerned departments, Panchs, Sarpanchs and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the  Government has taken several steps to revive Animal and Sheep Husbandry and the Agriculture sector as a whole  as these are the backbone of the economy of the country   as well as the State.  He said that Government has introduced a number of    promotional schemes, under which huge subsidy is being provided for feed, medicines etc to the farming community.
The Minster said that with the construction of Veterinary Complex at  R S Pura,  the services like   vaccination, artificial insemination etc would be timely delivered to the cattle which  help the  growth of the people associated with cattle farming. He asked the people to adopt cross breeding, dairy and poultry farming to enhance milk, chicken and mutton production.
The Minister apprised that a sufficient number of Mobile Ambulatory Units are being provided to the department to provide improved services to the people at their doorsteps.
Earlier, the people of the area demanded mobile units, construction and up-gradation of Animal/Sheep Husbandry centres besides special package to bring cattle under insurance cover. They also demanded     subsidy on cattle feed and compensation for damage of crops and land particularly in the border belt R.S. Pura.  The Minister assured that their genuine demands would be fulfilled in a time bound manner.
The Legislators Ajaz Jaan,   Sham Chowdhary and Devender Singh Rana also spoke on the occasion and said that considering the huge potential, the Government was keen to   revive   Animal/Sheep Husbandry sector and improve the economic status of people associated with this vital sector.
Devendar Rana said that  J&K has witnessed unprecedented development in all spheres under the leadership of Chief Minster. He urged the people, particularly youth to adopt cattle and sheep farming as it has huge potential in the state.
MLA Sham Choudahry demanded opening of more veterinary centres in the border areas to facilitate the farmers living in the area.
MLA, Ajaz Jan stressed the  need to take innovative measures to tap the employment potential in agriculture and its allied sectors, particularly in cattle, sheep, and poultry farming adding that the state has to depend on imports to meet the local requirement of milk, mutton and chicken.
