118th birth anniversary of Acharya Vinoba Bhave celebrated

JAMMU, Sept 11: 118th birth anniversary of Acharya Vinoba Bhave was celebrated with fervour and zeal.
Lawrence Public School, Panjtirthi in collaboration with Gandhi Global Family (GGF) Youth Wing celebrated the birth anniversary of Acharya Vinoba Bhave.
Rich floral tributes were paid to Acharya Vinoba Bhave by the school students and members of Gandhi Global Family (GGF).
On the occasion, members of GGF Youth Wing spoke on the life of renowned social worker and threw light on the principles and achievements of Acharya Vinoba Bhave.
Vice Principal Tejinder Kaur, Pawan Sharma, GGF Youth Coordinator Jammu East, Rahul Gupta, GGF Youth Coordiantor Jammu Cantt and School Coordinator Rajni Dutta were also present.
On the eve of 118th birth anniversary of Acharya Vinoba Bhave, Government Degree College, Billawar organized a function in collaboration with Gandhi Global Family.
On the occasion, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, Minister of State (Independent Charge) Fisheries and Co-operatives was the chief guest whereas SP Verma, President of GGF was the guest of honour.
A symposium was organized on “Life and Contribution of Acharya Vinoba Bhave -a social reformer” in which Vidisha Gupta of BSc Part-III stood first. She was given a cash prize of Rs 2100 and memento by the SP Verma. Bashir Ahmed Bhatti and Om Parkash Sharma were awarded with Gandhi Sewa Medal for maintaining communal harmony and following Gandhian philosophy and values in their life.
SP Verma spoke about various social works done by Acharya Vinoba Bhave.
Dr Manohar Lal Sharma impressed upon the society to maintain communal harmony which is the great need of hour in today’s time.
He sanctioned Rs 5 crore for the construction of Multi Purpose hall in the college.
Earlier, Principal Dr BL Gupta presented the welcome address.
The function was attended by SDM, Billawar, Tehsildar Billawar, BDO Billawar, members of GGF and eminent persons of Billawar.
Later, foundation stone of boundary wall, college gate and reception counter was laid by Dr Manohar Lal Sharma in the college campus being constructed at a cost of Rs 41.5 lakh. He also inaugurated two water coolers and Chemistry Gas Room fitted along with LPG connection in Chemistry Lab.
The function was compeered by Kajal Lalotra and Aditti Khajuria who were given Rs 500 each for their excellent performance.
118th birth anniversary of Acharya Vinoba Bhave was celebrated by District Congress Sewa Dal, Udhampur unit. On the occasion, floral tributes were paid to Acharya Vinoba Bhave by District Congress Dal Chief Yash Pal Sharma, senior Congress leader Syed Shakeel Shah and others. Speakers including Parkash Chand, Bansi Lal, Pritam Chand, Jugal Kishore, Sanjay Singh, Romesh Chander, Bhag Singh, Subash Gupta and Amit Gupta highlighted the life history of Acharya Vinoba Bhave.
To commemorate the birth anniversary of Acharya Vinoba Bhave, a programme was organised at Government High School, Katwalta, Purmandal. On the occasion, Karuna Bajaj, Master spoke in detail about the life of Acharya Vinoba Bhave. The programme was attended by faculty members, students and local populace.
