17 yrs RI to 3 JeM militants

JAMMU, Sept 12: Principal Sessions Judge Jammu, Kartar Singh today awarded 17 years rigorous imprisonment to three Pakistanis, who were working as militants of Jaish-e-Mohd in Jammu and Kashmir.
These three militants namely Ghulam Farid, son of  Mohd Shafi of Ropar, Bhimber, Mohd Imran, son of Abdul Gaffar of Dera Nawab Khan and Mohd Abdullah, son of Mohd Zarin of Haripur were arrested by Special Operation Group on December 21, 2008 from a hotel near bus stand along with one AK rifle with two loaded magazine, four hand grenades and three pistols.
During investigation and questioning it came to fore that they had entered the State by crossing the border to cause damage to vital installations of Army and Police.
After hearing Public Prosecutor Shabir Choudhary for the State whereas Advocate Rameshwar Sharma for the accused persons, Principal Sessions Judge convicted the militants and awarded them rigorous imprisonment for a period of 10 years each for the offence falling under Section 7/25 Arms Act.
They have further been sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for a period of seven years each under Section 14 Foreigner’s Act besides rigorous imprisonment for a period of five years each under Section 5 of Explosive Substances Act. However, all the sentences will run concurrently.
