JAMMU, Sept 12: Vice Chancellor of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) Jammu, Prof D K Arora inaugurated the Cytogenetic and Tissue Culture Laboratories of School of Biotechnology at SKUAST, Chatha here today.
On this occasion several senior Government officers, faculty members of the Varsity and students and researchers were present. The coordinator, School of Biotechnology projected the infrastructure development and ongoing activities of the SBT.
The Vice Chancellor appreciated the state of the art facilities facilities being developed at school of Biotechnology and reviewed academic and research activities of the school. He emphasized that efforts of the scientists, scholars and students should be planned for research in the frontal areas of Biotechnology that is mining of novel genes from extremophiles of the J&K and transgenic to combat biotic and abiotic stresses. He also suggested that the course curriculum should be upgraded regularly to keep students abreast with the global developments in the field of Biotechnology.
