Inaccessible areas to get Veterinary Mobile Services: Gurezi

JAMMU, Sept 12: The inaccessible parts of the State, still lacking livestock healthcare services, would soon get Veterinary Mobile Services through Ambulatory Vans.
Minister of State for Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Nazir Ahmed Khan, (Gurezi) informed this while addressing a large public meeting after inaugurating Government Veterinary Dispensary at Ghagwal in Samba district.
Being constructed with Rs. 10.40 lakh under Scheme Establishment & Strengthening of Veterinary Hospitals and Dispensaries (ESVHD), the dispensary has been raised on the land donated by Sarpanch, Bimla Devi..
MLA Durga Dass, Ex-MLA, Dyan Chand besides Commissioner Secretary Animal Husbandry Sarita Chauhan, Director Animal Husbandry S.L.Bhagat, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Samba, G.L.Bhagat were  present on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the Government has sanctioned an ambitious project envisaging provision of mobile veterinary services in inaccessible areas, where hospitals are not available, in all the districts of the State. He appealed the people especially youths to adopt self employment ventures under various schemes of the Centre and State government and start dairy/poultry business.
The Minister was informed that 55000 ton of milk has been produced in Samba district, out of which, 30000 is consumed in the district while the remaining is being supplied to other districts.
The Minister asked the people to grow up poultry business and make Ghagwal as hub of milk production. He also appealed the farmers to adopt cross breeding programme to increase milk production and adopt timely vaccination and de-worming to save and improve health status of precious live stock.
The Minister also visited Emu farm established by a local at Malvi, Samba and took stock of functioning of the unit.
Elaborating on scope and significance of EMU farming in the State, the Minister said that EMU farming can reduce the import of poultry birds and eggs and bring down the State exchequer which is presently Rs. 1300 crore annually on this account.
On the occasion, MLA Durga Dass announced Rs. 1 lakh for construction of boundary wall of the hospital premises.
Later, the Minister reviewed the pace of progress on ongoing developmental works besides taking stock of functioning of various departments at a high level meeting.
Gurezi, who is here to attend Summer Secretariat, had a detailed review of essential services including power, water, irrigation, health, agriculture, and other civic amenities besides various issues concerning people of the region.
Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Shantmanu, IGP Jammu Rajesh Kumar, Directors, Joint Directors, Deputy Directors, CEs besides other senior officers of concerned departments attended the meeting.
The Minister assessed the damages caused to public utilities due to recent floods and incessant rains besides reviewing the status of temporary relief to affected and restoration works.
