One killed, 28 injured in road mishap

KATHUA, Sept 13: One lady died while 28 others were injured, six of them seriously after a matador carrying them from Jammu to Kathua turned turtle at National Highway near Raj Bagh Police Station this evening.
The dead has been identified as Sagro Devi, 60 ,wife of Satpal of  Pathankot. The six seriously injured passengers were shifted to GMC Jammu for treatment while 10 passengers were admitted in District Hospital Kathua and the rest were discharged from DH Kathua after giving first aid.
According to reports, the matador bearing number JK08 1942 had taken 29 passengers from Laxmipur Kathua to Jammu to attend a 10th Day ceremony of their relative there. On its return when it reached near PS Raj Bagh the driver got confused after a three wheeler suddenly came in front of it on the road. In order to save the three wheeler from being hit by the matador the driver lost control on the steering and the matador turned turtle on the road resulting in the death of the lady and injuries to other passengers.
All the passengers were taken to District Hospital Kathua where the lady was declared brought dead and other six serious passengers were referred to GMC Jammu for treatment.
The Raj Bagh Police has registered a case against the driver and the body of the lady will be handed over to her family members tomorrow after postmortem.
