PHE employees highlight long pending demands

UDHAMPUR, Sept 13: A meeting of PHE Employees Association, held at PHE Station Sounthian under the chairmanship of Som Nath, vice president of Association for Jammu province, expressed serious concern over deteriorating condition of PHE Stations of Udhampur division.
All duty employees and district level leaders were present, who alleged that motors are being made to run in the open which get damaged in rain. They added that one stabilizer costs Rs 10 lakh while the motor is worth Rs 2 lakh, but the department is least bothered about loss of this machinery and does not provide relief by way constructing motor rooms etc.
They alleged further that road leading to Sounthian station has been fully encroached and pucca houses constructed on it but the department has not taken any action, thereby compounding problems of the workers, as they are unable to transport motors and other material to the Station.
Earlier on September 2, a deputation of the association had met the Superintending Engineer, who had assured for necessary steosbut nothing has been done till date.
Association leaders held that they would stop work till their demands and problems were conceded. They appealed the concerned Minister to frame committees to furnish report on the condition of PHE stations and the committee members should be preferably from outside the department.
Others who also spoke included Vijay Kumar, Subash Chander, Amardev Singh, Rajinder Kumar, Lal Chand, Sukh Ram, Kirpal Singh, Deepak Kumar, Bajr Singh, Raj Kumar, Sudesh Kumar etc.
