Kalaunji, methiseed decline on subdued demand

NEW DELHI, Sept 14:  Kalaunji and methiseed prices fell by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today on subdued demand from retailers and stockists amid adequate stocks.

Increased arrivals from producing belts also put pressure on the select spice prices.

Kalaunji and methiseed prices fell by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 7,100-8,400 and Rs 3,100-4,100 per quintal, respectively.

Marketmen said subdued demand from retailers and stockists against adequate stocks mainly pulled down Kalaunji and methiseed prices on the wholesale kirana market here.

The following are today’s quotations per quintal:

Ajwain 11,000-17,500, black pepper (per kg) 450-570, betel-nut (kg) 180-200, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 950-980 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 950-1100.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 650-750, cardamom (colour robin) 600-700, cardamom bold 650-700, cardamom extra (bold) 800-900 and cloves (kg) 800-900. (PTI)
