Pensioners highlight demands

JAMMU, Sept 14: All J&K State Pensioners Association held an emergency meeting under the chairmanship of Mukand Lal Sharma, convener of the Association and discussed issues of the State pensioners.
The meet expressed serious concern over delay in disbursement of monthly pension for the last few months and highlighted the long pending demands like release of arrears of the revised pension, additional quantum pension in favour of the pensioners after attaining the age of 80, 85, 90 and 100, benefit of SRO 57, release of pending DA from January 2009 to June 2009, release of 3rd installment of 6th Pay Commission, enhancement of Medical Allowance, etc.
Madan Lal Abrol, general secretary of the Association, strongly criticized the State Government for not showing any response over their four years struggle in connection with the problems relating to the implementation of 6th Pay Commission.
He threatened that the pensioners would resort to agitational path if the Government fails to accede to their demands.
Others who attend the meeting included Bhardwaj, Bhushan Pargal, Yashpaul Sason, Raj Kumar, Madan Lal Sharma, Sardhari Lal, Vidya Sagar, Sat Paul and Sadhu Ram.
