JAMMU, July 1: Chairman of Mata Sarthal Devi Trust and former MLC, Vikramditya Singh has urged the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to upgrade Sarthal Devi Shrine Road on priority as the same is in abysmal condition giving a tough time to residents and the devotees commuting on the same especially during summer months.
In a handout issued today, Chairman of the Trust said that hundreds of devotees visit the aforesaid shrine and the road leading to this place is in shambles, especially the stretch between Galigad to Sarthal Shrine. He demanded that the Government should enhance facilities for the devotees passing through this road as presently the situation is dismal with literally no facility being offered to pilgrims using this road to reach the famous Sarthal Devi Shrine. He said that development of the region is the need of the hour as the splendid beauty of the area has a lot of tourism potential but due to neglect of the concerned departments including PWD and the Tourism, the people visiting the area have to face lots of difficulties.
It is pertinent to mention that Shri Sarthal Devi Trust Management Council had requested Vikramditya Singh and appealed to him to approach LG Manoj Sinha to submit their plight with regard to dilapidated condition of the aforesaid road. The Council highlighted that a population of more than 30,000 souls has only one lifeline viz the Sarthal Road catering to the needs of 10 Panchayats but the condition of the road is disappointing and needs immediate repairs.
