Lakhanpur police rescues 20 animals, seizes truck

KATHUA: July 3: Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal has tightened its noose on bovine smugglers and 20 bovines were rescued while one vehicle was seized in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Lakhanpur, near New Toll Plaza.
Police said a team led by Inspector, Vijay Kotwal, SHO PS Lakhanpur under the supervision of DySP, DAR Kathua, Sukhdev Singh during routine naka/checking duty at New Toll Plaza, Lakhanpur noticed one suspicious vehicle (truck) bearing Registration Number JK02AR-9187 coming from Punjab towards J&K UT which was signaled to stop for checking. Sensing danger, driver of the vehicle managed to fled away from the spot while leaving behind the vehicle abandoned.
During checking of the vehicle 20 bovine animals (9 Cows & 13 Oxen) were found loaded in the vehicle. Thereafter all the 20 bovines were rescued along with one vehicle was seized. A case has been registered at PS Lakhanpur under FIR No. 59/2022 U/S 188/IPC, 11/PCA Act and further investigation is going on.
