Harsh meets PMGSY CE, raises issue of bad roads

JAMMU, July 5: Former Minister and senior AAP leader, Harsh Dev Singh today met PMGSY Chief Engineer and other district officers of PMGSY Udhampur and held deliberations for early restoration and completion of rural roads in Udhampur which are allegedly in pathetic condition.
Harsh Dev pointed towards the deplorable plight of Gujad-Chirdi road and apprised the CE about the massive outrage triggered in the area due to slip-shod and sub-standard work by the concerned agency.
It was specifically pointed out that the road was damaged within a year of its completion due to poor quality work.
The CE gave on spot instructions for taking remedial action in time bound manner.
Singh further pointed out that T/morh to Ther road in Chenani had also got damaged at several places within a year of its completion due to sub-standard works.
Other roads that came up for discussion included Mantalai-Gamastu, Barmeen-Satyalta road, Bup-Barkunda road, Barkunda-Kharwa road, Charat-Pakhlai road and Bandhole-Parla Chappar road.
Singh also highlighted the issue of non-release of compensation to the affected persons whose houses, orchards etc were dismantled for construction of PMGSY roads. He further sought early payment of compensation for lands acquired for construction of such rural roads in Chenani, Latti, Ghordi and Dudu-Basantgarh areas.
The CE sought details of all the roads from the concerned officers and issued on spot instructions for rendering all such roads traffickable without any delay.
