Samba administration acts against power theft

SAMBA, July 7: District Administration Samba under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner, Anuradha Gupta, today conducted multiple raids at houses, shops, business establishments, factories and other places to remove illegal electricity connections.
During the raids, houses of some  prominent individuals were also inspected in which irregularities were discovered and appropriate action was taken.
The officials informed that six flying squads were constituted and raids were conducted across the district simultaneously. It was informed that following the complaints against illegal use of electricity the raids were conducted at Keli Mandi, Chak Ram Chand, Tanda Burj, Sujwana, ward number 7 and 8 of Vijaypur, Rama Shop Area, Rahya etc.
During the inspection it was revealed that around 250 KW load would be revised in the district with the disconnection of 87 illegal connections, 43 heaters, removal of energy meter-bypass and plugging of illegal power taps.
Additionally surprise inspections on illegal water connections were also conducted wherein a number of illegal connections found out were disconnected on spot. An illegal bore-well was also found in Vijaypur town which was also removed.
Samba Administration has issued an appeal to the general public to desist from power theft and has warned that such drives against power theft would be intensified in the coming days. Names of offenders indulged in power theft would also be released publicly, it was informed.
The inspection was carried under the supervision of ADDC, Rajinder Singh; ADC, Suram Chand Sharma; ACR Samba, Ravinder Singh; SDM Vijaypur, Vinay Sharma; Tehsildar Samba, Rampal; Executive Engineer Electric Division Vijaypur, Bhola Bhandari; Executive Engineer Jal Shakti, Sunil Sharma among other officers of JPDCL and Vijaypur-Samba Jal Shakti Divisions.
