SRINAGAR, July 8: Govardhan Puri Peethadheeshwar Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Shri Adhokshajanand Dev Teerth Ji Maharaj, who is on a 5-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, today paid obeisance at various temples in the Valley and prayed for the peace and prosperity of the region.
A spokesperson of Shankaracharya Ji said as part of his nationwide tour to visit 52 Shaktipeeths and 12 Jyotirlingas, Sadguru visited Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the Shankaracharya Ji offered prayers for the country’s happiness, peace, prosperity, and upliftment at various sites of worship.
“Upon his arrival in Srinagar, Riyaz Ahmed, Joint Secretary of Protocol, and Rajesh Sharma, Officer of the Amarnath Shrine Board, welcomed Shankaracharya Ji. He then traveled by special helicopter to Shri Amarnath, where he dutifully worshipped Baba Amarnath and prayed for the happiness, peace, prosperity, and uplift of the country, “he said.
He also offered prayers at the Shri Shankaracharya Temple in Srinagar and the Kheer Bhavani Temple in Ganderbal. “During this, senior administrative and police officers and devotees welcomed Jagadguru from place to place and took his blessings,” he said.
According to him, hundreds of saints and followers led by Mahamandaleshwar Mahant Shri Rameshwardas Ji Maharaj greeted Jagadguru as he arrived in Jammu and presented him with flowers, garlands, and angavastras at the Ram temple in Purani Mandi.” While blessing everyone, Shankaracharya appreciated the service and religious work being done by Mahant Ji,” he said.
He said Shankaracharya Ji Maharaj appreciated the efforts of the State Government, Police Administration, Shrine Board, Army, and other security forces for the best facilities and security being provided for the pilgrims during the Amarnath Yatra.
He informed Shankaracharya Adhokshajanand Dev Teerth Ji Maharaj started his India journey on November 20, 2021, after worshiping at Tirthaguru Pushkar. “From there, Jagadguru Shankaracharya, along with a group of saints and scholars, reached many states including Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Northeast India, and Uttar Pradesh, and reached the first Jyotirlinga Shri Somnath Mahadev, Trimbakeshwar, Bhimashankar, Ghrishneshwar, Omkareshwar, Mahakaleshwar, Parli,” he said, adding that he also Visited and worshiped at various temples including Baijnath, Srisailam, Rameshwaram and the famous Shakti Peethas.
