SRINAGAR : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said his party National Conference has emerged victorious from the testing time of the past two decades due to its principles which are etched in hearts and minds of the people.
“NC and its activists have withstood many onslaughts and challenges particularly during the period of disturbance, and came out victorious and stronger because it lives in minds and hearts of the people,” he told party workers here.
“Despite many attempts by some elements to weaken and damage the NC even (by) using force against its workers, the party has emerged stronger and firm on its principles, and its workers stood like a monolith,” Omar said.
The NC flag is fluttering in every village, every area and every region of the state indicating its popularity, the NC working president said.
Power has never been NC’s objective and public service is the only benchmark of its functioning, he said.
The NC is the torch-bearer of amity, brotherhood, peace, solidarity and inclusive development of all regions and sub-regions of the state, the Chief Minister said.
People are the fountainhead of power and NC is a public movement rather than a mere political party, he said.
“Our only aim in politics is good of the public and prosperity of the state,” Omar said.
He asked party workers to make people aware of the path-breaking and historic initiatives taken by his government to empower people at the grassroot-level and make them equal partners in governance, plan formulation and implementation of development schemes. (agencies)
