Underlying linkages: Students, monks from Ladakh call on Prez

NEW DELHI, Sep 17: Students and monks from Nubra Valley,  eastern Ladakh, called on President Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan today in a visit seen as furthering national bonding and underlying linkages.

The ‘Operation Sadbhavana tour’ for the 15 students and monks has been arranged under the auspices of the Indian Army.

The President said that despite the co-existence of diverse languages, customs and traditions in India, an underlying unity binds its people.

Apart from historical monuments and monasteries, the students and monks would be apprised of new developments in the fields of  science and technology which form part of national efforts to keep pace with advances in the rest of the world.

The educational-cum-motivational tour of Delhi, Agra, Lucknow and Amritsar from September 9 to September 30, 2013, has been organised by 2nd Battalion, Bihar Regiment and Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre, a Presidential spokesperson said.  (AGENCIES)
