Devotees throng Khrew temple

JAMMU, July 12: Har Choodeh (Ashad Chaturdashi) the birthday of Goddess Jawalaji was celebrated with traditional religious fervor at gaiety today.
The Goddess is the presiding deity of Kashmiri Pandits and on the occasion a great religious function was held at Mata Jawalaji shrine Khrew in Pulwama district of South Kashmir today in which devotees from different areas of Kashmir and outside participated.
Every year the birthday of Goddess Jwalaji is celebrated on Ashard Shukla Chaturdashi, also known as Jwala Chaturdashi. A grand festival is held at Khrew village. The devotees participated in day long Bhajna -Kirtan and performed Pooja Archana of Goddess in a traditional way. They prayed for peace and prosperity of humanity.
The civil administration including Revenue Department, PHE, Health, Town Area Committee, police, security, social organisations who provided all support in making the function a grand success. Majority community also provided full moral support in organising this religious function with old age brotherhood and communal harmony.
Member Parliament, NC leader, Justice Hasnain Masoodi, Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama, Baseer-Ul-Haq Choudhary, SSP Awantipora, Mohammad Yousuf, tehsildar, Pampore Zubair Ahmad Bhat visited the shrine and greeted the Pandit community members.
Naib Tehsildar Pampore, Javaid Ahmad Bhat, Mir Murwat Hussian, Municipal Committee Khrew officials and other field staff of Revenue Department also participated in the day long Festival.
The Hindu Biradri members of Khrew and Ladhoo Pampore and adjoining areas led by Ravi Ji Bhat and others organised the function while Army 50 RR stationed at Shar-I-Shali Khrew made the arrangements of Prasad. The Army had also decorated the temple with buntings and flowers besides making minor repairs to it.
