Jr Librarian aspirants allege harassment from JKSSB

JAMMU, July 13: The aspirants for the posts of Junior Librarians in the Department of Culture, J&K UT, have alleged harassment from the JKSSB authorities on the name of documents verification.
The aggrieved candidates who visited Excelsior office, while producing all the documents and notices of the JKSSB, alleged that in 2020, JKSSB advertised 48 posts of Junior Librarian (24 for Jammu and 24 for Kashmir Division) vide notification No. 04 of 2020. The minimum qualification after graduation for the post was certificate course in Library Science. Since this course is already outdated and abandoned by the Universities of Kashmir and Jammu in the year 1983 and they have replaced it with B.Lib/BLIS and integrated MLIB.
Since the certificate course was just 6 months diploma certificate, the Graduates and Post-graduates in Library sciences applied for the post and many of them qualified as well. On the representation of the aspirants as well the Cultural Department further clarified that BLIB/BLIS is acceptable qualifications for the said post. The candidates appeared in the CBT exam held by JKSSB on Nov 2, 2021 and no such barrier was mentioned during the conduct of exam.
Now since they qualified the exam on Dec 20, 2021 and have made place in the select list, the JKSSB authorities are denying verification of their documents on the mere and unjustified plea that they do not have certificate course in LIB Sciences, whereas, interestingly, Graduate and PG degree is being ignored. Higher qualification candidates are being denied claim on the post. They have alleged harassment to the selected candidates and sought intervention of Chief Secretary AK Mehta and Lt Governor of J&K UT into the matter.
