Kathua police seizes 573 kgs of Bhukki, 8.5 gms of Heroin

KATHUA, July 14: Kathua police under the guidance of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal today recovered and seized 573 Kilograms of Poppy Straw (Bhukki) along with 8.50 grams of Heroin (Chitta) like narcotics within the district. Two drug peddlers were arrested while one vehicle (Tanker) along with narcotics was seized on the spot.

Police said yesterday a team of Police Station (PS), Rajbagh led by Inspector, Amit Sangra SHO, Rajbagh under the supervision of SDPO Border, Pankaj Soodan during naka checking in its jurisdictional area opposite to NHW PS Rajbagh noticed one suspicious vehicle (Tanker) bearing Registration Number, JK02BG-0833 en route from Jammu towards Punjab which was being driven by one Showket Ali, son of Maram Shah of Shanker Nagar, Rama Channi Jammu presently at Bhatindi Jammu. On thorough checking approximately 573 kilograms of Poppy Straw (Bhukki) like narcotics was recovered from his illegal possession. Thereafter all the recovered narcotics along with Tanker was seized and one person was arrested. A case vide FIR No. 147/2022 U/S 8/15/ NDPS Act has been registered at PS Rajbagh and further investigation is underway.
While in another case yesterday a police team of Women PS Kathua headed by PSI Anu Radha incharge Women PS Kathua under the supervision of DySP Headquarters, Kathua Shammi Kumar during patrolling/checking duty in its jurisdictional area near Chak Drab khan noticed one suspicious lady en route from Chak Drab Khan towards Housing Colony by foot who was directed to stop for checking. On thorough checking approximately 8.50 grams of Heroin(Chitta) like narcotics was recovered from the illegal possession of the lady namely Jyoti Devi wife of Rahul Kumar of Chak Drab Khan tehsil & district Kathua. Thereafter all the recovered narcotics was seized and the lady was arrested on spot. A case vide FIR No. 276/2022 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kathua while further investigation into this matter has been set into motion.
