UDHAMPUR, July 16: Up in arms against the Jal Shakti Department & PDD for their failure over addressing water crisis & unscheduled power cuts, former MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia led a strong protest at Garhi-Rehmbal, here today.
The protesters blocked the road and raised slogans against the concerned departments as well as the Administration.
Mankotia lambasted the departments and administration for their failure. He alleged that the Jal Shakti Department had completely turned blind towards the people who are making hue & cry due to acute shortage of water. He warned that if department does not restore the proper supply of water soon, he will be forced to protest even more strongly.
The former MLA said that shortage of water in the town as well as in the Panchayats of Udhampur constituency has increased beyond the limit, regarding which the department does not seem to be taking any appropriate action. He said that the officers were not ready to address the problems of general public and the same will not be tolerated at any cost. Mankotia further said that unscheduled power cuts in this hot weather have forced public to suffer.
Mankotia also demanded that bus service to Jammu should be resumed on this route at the earliest.
Large no of general public besides Sarpanchs and panchs took part in the protest demonstration.
