Keep football kicking

Sir,
India’s defeat against Afghanistan in the recently held South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Cup final, which evoked sharp criticism in the country, should wake the concerned people to the problems football faces in the country.
India football has not yet achieved international excellence despite so many efforts. India figures at 145th position at the world rankings. The game is in limbo right now and this status needs to be changed to make it thriving and throbbing so that it could improve its ranking and at the same time retain  fan following. With the exit of so many veteran players from the game, Indian football team is passing through a critical phase. It is at this stage that the well wishers of the game come forward and suggest measures to revive it to glory. In case that does not happen, it will meet the same fate as did Hockey.
The  players need to be trained at international standards and be given all facilities including monetary benefits in order to boost their  morale and to keep their interest in the game intact.
Yours etc…..
