JAMMU, July 17: Durga Nagar Welfare Committees of Sector One and Sector Two in their separate meetings discussed the problems of the area and urged the Government to solve them without further delay.
The meeting of Sector One was held under the chairmanship of Roshan Lal Raina in which grave concern was expressed over the supply of muddy water to the area as the PHE tube well is not functioning properly. The Committee said the issue was taken up with the Commissioner JMC and Mayor, Chander Mohan Gupta and despite their directives to concerned authorities to make the tube well functional nothing has been done in this regard with the result the people are forced to take the contaminated water which can led to spread of epidemic in the area.
The meeting, which was also addressed by the chairman of the Committee, Ravinder Bakshi warned to launch agitation in case the problem was not solved immediately. It said the problem of water scarcity has cropped up since the PHE divisions were handed over to JMC.
The meeting also expressed concern over the failure of PDDP Department in submitting the power tariff bills to consumers and alleged that reading is not being taken by the Department in various areas with the result the consumers will be put to problem after they have to pay the bills in one go. The meeting demanded immediate intervention of higher authorities of the Department in the matter.
Durga Nagar Sector One Welfare Committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sanjay Ganjoo. He urged the Chief Engineer, PHE to redress erratic water supply as the people are facing many hardships in these hot and humid days on account of the same.
Prolonged gap in the water supply has led to the acute problems to the people. He urged the Chief Engineer PHE for immediate repair of tube well at Durga Nagar park which is not functioning properly and needs immediate renovation. He urged the PHE officers to visit the area and find out the reasons why water supply is being hampered. He said the Durga Nagar Sector-02, Sector-01 and adjoining localities are facing acute water scarcity in such a hot weather.
