SRINAGAR, July 19: The National Conference (NC) today lambasted the Government for imposing GST on basic commodities while stating that the common people were being pushed to the wall.
Party’s Chief Spokesperson, Tanvir Sadiq while talking to the media persons here said that 60% of people in India find it difficult to make their ends meet. “And on top of it there has been an increase in the GST and the list includes the basic commodities, which is unfair,” he said.
He said that the move will make it difficult for people to survive. “This not for the benefit of the people and when it comes to benefiting the people, the Government is always invisible,” he said.
Tanvir said that even the GST has been imposed on the hospital beds. “If they are going to do this, where are the poor people going to go.”
The NC Chief Spokesperson said that there is a need for taking measures to ensure that the lives of the people are not made difficult.
“People do not have resources because there is unemployment and on top of it, there has been an increase in the tax. How are people going to cope with it,” he asked, adding that all the schemes of the Government have turned out to be anti-people and unpopular.
On the matter of aspirants for the Finance Accounts Assistant (FAA), he asked how can the administration scrap the recruitment and that the officials should at least reach out to them and talk to them. “They have been left with no option but to protest; they have genuine demands. The government should reach out to them and ensure that their demands are met.”
