RAMBAN, July 19: Deputy Commissioner has directed Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Banihal to monitor the repair and maintenance work on the Nachlana and Khari road and road at Hernihal on the Nachlana-Arpinchla-Mandakbass-Kawna-Mangit road.
He passed the direction after discussing the issues of the roads with Chief General Manager M/s IRCON International Limited Banihal and M/s Khanday Constructions.
“Chief General Manager of M/s IRCON International Limited and Chief General Manager of M/s Khanday Constructions have assured to take up the work on the projects today. Both CGMs and the Contractor assigned the work have stated that the execution of works earlier has been met with resistance by some sections of the general public, which led to suspension of work”, the order issued by DC reads.
DC also directed SDM Banihal to seek police assistance if any resistance to the execution of the ongoing works is countenanced.
“You (SDM) may also entrust supervisory role to your AEE, PWD Banihal to ensure that the repair and maintenance works are executed without any further delay”, the order reads.
It is pertinent to mention here that BDC Chairman and 22 PRIs resigned from their posts in protest against the alleged failure of the administration to repair the road.
