JAMMU, July 20: Central University of Jammu hosted a meeting with Technology Information Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC), an autonomous body under Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.
The meeting was chaired by Prof Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu. Dr Pradeep Srivastava, Executive Director, along-with his scientists Sanjay Singh and Mukti Prasad represented TIFAC.
It was decided to have an MoU between Central University of Jammu & TIFAC for developing a sustainable partnership for implementation of VISION 2035 given by Prime Minister, to expand the reach of technology in every nook and corner of the country. Through this partnership, technology transfer shall be promoted amongst the rural population of J&K through the TIFAC programmes – MITRA and Gaon ka Vikas-Technology ke Saath.
Prof Sanjeev Jain, assured that a close collaboration between the two organisations will result in the larger welfare of people. The programmes of TIFAC shall provide opportunities of start-up projects for livelihood generation.
The University agreed to provide all infrastructural, academic and outreach support to the programmes of TIFAC. The expertise of various science departments of the University in coordination with Department of Social Work shall be utilised for effective use of technology like Internet of Things, Block-chain Technology, Artificial Intelligence and Cloud Computing in the areas of Health, Capacity Building, Livelihood generation, Water Conservation, Women empowerment, Promotion of Local artisans and agricultural development. The TIFAC programmes will also be used in the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Mission of the University.
Prof Yashwant Singh, Registrar CUJ, gave the vote of thanks. Dr Neerendra Kumar, Coordinator, TIFAC cell, CU Jammu, coordinated the meeting. Heads of various Science and Social Sciences Departments, CU Jammu, were also present in the meeting.
